Teenagers Learning Music – a Way to Express

Will listening to music make you smarter? Will learning to play a musical instrument make your brain grow larger than normal? Questions like these ones have been popping up all over the place in the past few years, and not just in scientific journals either.

For example music courses are a great way to learn about virtually any area of music; history, theory, and musical instrument instruction — you name it and somewhere music courses specialize in it.

And everyone knows that the teenage years can be challenging. The many physical and emotional changes can be difficult to deal with. It is very important for teenagers to have an outlet; a way to express themselves. Sports and music are good examples of outlets.

However, it can be difficult to break into a sport as a teenager. The recreational sports programs have become very competitive. Children are playing the same sports for three seasons a year as opposed to children playing three different sports a year. Some levels in the recreational programs have been raised to the levels of select or traveling leagues. If you are an average player, joining a team as a preteen or teen may be intimidating.

Music, on the other hand, offers many opportunities even for the preteen or teen that didn’t have an interest as a child. There are schools and music teachers who offer lessons for children and adults of any age. There are ‘self-teaching’ keyboards and guitars which give basic instruction at an individual pace. Practicing an instrument can be done in the privacy of the home and builds confidence.

The Benefits of Music Education

The trick for parents is to enroll their teenagers in high quality programs and assist them in purchasing high quality instruments. There are indeed many benefits to be realized from a musical education is listed below.

Playing a Musical Instrument Can:

* Help your teens develop a commitment to excellence
* Help your teens develop self-esteem
* Provide an opportunity for your teens to experience self-expression, creativity, and heightened achievement
* Engage the imagination
* Contribute to a balanced, positive, challenging, and stimulating education
* Prepare your teens for other stages of development and participation in society by fostering dedication and sensitivity
* Increase your teen’s brain development, math abilities, and higher thinking skills
* Help your teens develop perseverance when things are looking bleak and hopeless
* Raise your teen’s awareness
* Expand your teen’s knowledge
* Help your teen develop mind and body coordination
* Contribute to your teen’s spiritual growth
* Help your teens develop teamwork skills
* Be a source of great fun!

Learning an instrument has many academic and social benefits. Music is linked to higher test scores, improved coordination, concentration levels, and study discipline. Other benefits include improved language, social, and memory skills.

During middle school and high school, the world of preteens and teens begin to grow. Bigger schools mean more acquaintances and opportunities. Preteens and teens start to separate from their childhood buddies and begin to make new friends with others who share the same interests. Music opens many doors including marching band, rock bands, jazz bands, plays, concerts, and competitions.

Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival takes places in April 2011

There are roughly three months left in the commencement of 12th Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival that is scheduled to be held on April 15, 16, and 17 in its native venue, The Empire Polo Field, in Indio, California. Coachella is known for its lineup of famous national level performers and 2011 Coachella will be no exceptional. The country’s largest music festival was sold out in just 5 days and if sources are to be beloved there are chances for Coachella to win America’s best music festival award held at the at the annual Pollstar Awards in Los Angeles. If this happens, it would be the seventh time in eight years that Coachella will earn this feat.
The 2011 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, was announced as the biggest heavy metal concert in America and immediately after its announcement became the fastest selling festival in Coachella history. The hot lineup of 2011 Coachella includes big names like Animal Collective, Chromeo, Gogol Bordello and Cold War Kids; the four performers also set the Coachella stage on fire in 2008. The one album old band Mumford & Sons will be performing on Saturday, April 16, 2011 along with Arcade Fire, Kanye West, The Strokes, and the Kings of Leon.  The lineup is huge but around 30% of the performers at 2011 Coachella Valley have already performed at the festival at any point of time.
Goldenvoice being as the organizers of the biggest American music festival always receives criticism regarding poor customer services and event management. But this year the bright chances of winning America’s best music festival awards has made Goldenvoice to add 10 acres of parking and concert space to give better customer support. Goldenvoice also added a new sixth venue for less known and local artists to amuse attendees who demand fresh blood at the festival.
Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival takes places in April when temperature in the Desert of Indio start rising and Coachella remains the only Festival to say a happy goodbye to spring before heat makes people sweating. People from distant areas come to attend this music festival and biggest concern for them is where to stay if they want to enjoy the festival all three days. The most suitable options are car camping or a tent at the Lake Eldorado campsite but they don’t offer night stay. However if you fail to get hold either of them, you can avail the nearest camping facility, the details of these offsite camping is available at Coachella’s website.

Shopping for art at an Art Festival

There’s no better feeling than walking through an art festival with some money in your pocket. The possibilities seem endless, and sometimes actually ARE endless! So when browsing the wares at a festival, what should you remember to make the most of your experience? John Eimerman, founder of the Naples International Art Festival shares some of his secrets below.

Number One. Be mindful of your space. You can’t go buying a piece of blown glass that’s 3 feet tall and expect it to fit into your 18 inch curio cabinet. Remember dimensions, and try to imagine what the piece will look like once it’s installed.

It can also be helpful to have somewhat of a pre-planned idea of what you’d like to go into a space. It doesn’t have to be detailed. Maybe you want something boxy and modern, or smooth and sensuous. Don’t be too specific in your formation of idea heading to the festival, because remember: you’re shopping for ART; however, having an idea in mind can help you weed through some of the clutter that can be at an art festival.

Number Two. If your room is beige and you want something to pop out, try to steer clear of white, brown, tan, beige items. You see what I’m saying. Go to the booths that pop out at you, and you’ll be almost guaranteed an item that will pop out once at home, or office. And speaking of the office….

Remember that an office piece should be neutral. This doesn’t mean boring, but it does mean that it should steer clear of sending any political or controversial messages, unless your actual office is itself political or controversial! But when shopping for a lobby or outer office art form, try to keep it abstract. This will give customers or clients something to look at or ponder if there is a wait.

Number Three. Determine a shopping budget. If you have only to spend there’s really no reason to walk into a booth showcasing ,000 sculptures. If you’re looking for a photograph or painting, and you know a range you’re willing to spend, you can cut down on all the different temptations that no doubt line the walk ways of the art festival.

Number Four. Have fun! Be creative in your thinking! If you stick to a pre-determined budget, there’s really no right or wrong answer. You will always come away with a one-of-a-kind conversation piece.

Shopping for art at an art festival is a learning process but one that’s fun and rewarding. Stay true to yourself and keep the above tips in mind…and happy shopping!
