Travel and Accommodations:

La Grande is conveniently located in the center of all of northeast Oregon’s most popular visitor attractions and is a great place from which to base an exploration of this beautiful corner of Oregon. Nestled at the feet of the Blue Mountains on the edge of the fertile Grande Ronde Valley, La Grande is a pretty town with a population of 12,600 and a full array of services for travelers. The community is friendly and casual; a slice of Americana. A popular Farmer’s Market and a wonderful collection of specialty shops and restaurants are highlights of the attractive downtown. Eastern Oregon University and a wealth of talent in music, art, dance and drama provide a level of entertainment and culture typically seen only in communities of much larger than La Grande. Pristine lakes, rushing rivers, sage covered range lands, and a huge, fertile valley ringed by snow-capped mountains make the landscape in Union County diverse and beautiful. The surrounding national forests, rivers and lakes provide some of the best outdoor recreation opportunities in Oregon. Community celebrations and rodeos make entertainment easy to find during the summer months. Time your visit and take part in the Third Thursday Art Walk, the Farmers' Market or Thursday At The Max concerts, all in downtown La Grande.
